Tumbleweeds 4-H Club- July 2014 Club of the Month

By Nebraska 4-H Foundation August 6, 2014

This month we would like to congratulate the Tumbleweeds 4-H Club on being awarded Nebraska’s Club of the Month in July. The Tumbleweeds hold strong values where they believe the adults are just the advisors and the members are the ones who need to make the decisions on activities, programs, community service and the direction in which the club goes. The members all understand that the club is hard work but also offers many rewards. They have members that are involved with Small Animals, Dairy Goats, Poultry and consumer economics. The Tumbleweeds try to always put community service first no matter what they are doing or where they are at. They have the firm belief to leave this planet better for the next generations. The club is involved in its community by putting on several petting zoos as a way to inform the local communities about Agricultural issues and the animals that are sharing our world. They are also actively involved in chick days, which is an event that helps consumers pick out poultry to raise. It also includes activities that helps them understand the process between the farm and the table and the quality of the food we produce. The children also have a community garden that they use not only for their own families but will give any extras to local food pantries so that other families can benefit from their farm fresh produce. The clubs plans on doing volunteer work at the state fair after they had so much fun volunteering at the Hall County Fair by cleaning the parking lot, donating a Championship Row Banner and donating prizes for the rabbit contest. You can tell these kids agree you are never too young to have a strong work ethic and give back to an organization you love. The Nebraska 4-H Foundation and Nebraska 4-H Ambassadors are proud to call the Tumbleweeds 4-H Club, 4-H Club of the Month for July 2014.

Also, applications are being accepted for the August 4-H Club of the Month until Friday, August 22nd.
