Four Corners 4-H Club – February 2014 Club of the Month

By Nebraska 4-H Foundation March 3, 2014

Congratulations to the Four Corners 4-H Club from Custer County for being selected as your February 2014 Nebraska 4-H Club of the Month!
The Four Corners 4-H Club is an active club. They do many community service projects throughout the 4-H year. One community service project their members participated in was the Quilts of Valor project. This project involved not only 4-H club members but also members of the community to complete the quilt. The club conducted a food drive for the local food pantry before Thanksgiving and delivered holiday food gifts bags for 15 needy families at Christmas time. A day long service project for the Four Corners was called “Sewing for Babies”. The Four Corners 4-H members and the community came together again to make baby items such as bibs, burb cloths, receiving blankets, and caps. All the items were then donated to charities across Nebraska. Their latest community service project was called “Valentines for Veteran’s”. Each member made and decorated 1 to 2 cards that were given to veterans in their communities and in central Nebraska. Over the past 3 years, the Four Corners 4-H Club has sold the most advertisements for the 4-H Fair Premium Books. Each member is encouraged to contact a business and/or interested individuals within the area and ask them to purchase an ad. This helps the members with communication skills and they learn about some of the local businesses and how they are a vital part of their communities. The club also promotes 4-H through a variety of activities. The horse members rode in the local parade where they wore their 4-H attire and carried the 4-H flag. During National 4-H Week, members decorated the window of a local businesses to let everyone know that 4-H has a variety of projects that may interest youth and adult leaders as well. The Nebraska 4-H Foundation and Nebraska 4-H Ambassadors are proud to call the Four Corners 4-H Club of the Month for February 2014.
