By Nebraska 4-H Foundation February 9, 2015

This month we would like to congratulate The Eastside Livestock 4-H Club for being awarded the Nebraska 4-H Club of the Month for January 2015. This 4-H Club from Sutton, NE in Clay County is 30 members strong. The club is very dedicated to building strong citizenship and teamwork through various community service activities. The hosted haunted hayrack rides this past October. The public was given a spooky ride around town enduring zombies, monsters and ghost played by 4-H members and parents. Admission for the event was a canned good item that was donated to the local food pantry. The collected 451 cans of food from this two-night event. The planning an organizing of this event created youth-adult partnership opportunities. It also helped build family relationships.
The club also promoted National 4-H Week by handing out goodie bags during harvest. The members were present at area elevator locations handing out sacks of crackers, cookies, fruit and bottled water. The farmers were very appreciative. The club also makes annual donations to local scholarship funds. The Eastside Livestock 4-H club members, leaders and parents are dedicated to providing the best learning opportunities 4-H offers. The club is very passionate to always “Make the Best Better.”
The Nebraska 4-H Ambassadors work together with the Nebraska 4-H Foundation provide the 4-H Club of the Month program to all Nebraska 4-H clubs throughout the state.
