December 2016 Club of the Month

By Sara Werner December 20, 2016

This month we would like to congratulate the Clever Clovers 4-H Club for being awarded the Nebraska 4-H Club of the Month for December 2016. This 4-H Club from Lincoln, Nebraska, in Lancaster County has truly made a difference in their community. The club is very dedicated to building strong citizenship and teamwork through various community service activities.

The Clever Clovers 4-H club has just kicked off their 3rd year in existence!  Their membership has remained steady and their 4-Her’s are active!  The club had a great year end celebration/ new year kick-off potluck.  They reflected on the multiple accomplishments of their club members in the 2015-2016 year which included 11 of 12 members attending a 4-H lock-in, multiple members participating in Clover College, 4-H camp, speech at county and district level, demonstrations at county and state level, three members identified as top exhibitors at County Fair, and two members having static exhibits at State Fair, just to name a few.

The club had a great time once again working in the Lancaster County Fair food booth to help raise money for scholarships within the county.  They offered their time and talent and planted flowers at Tabitha Health Care to give back to their community, as they offer the club a free meeting place.  Sewing pillowcases for the Foster Care program was also a great way to practice their sewing skills and to add a bright spot in someone’s life.

The Clever Clovers Club opened a Facebook page this year to share photos and information. Members of the 4-H club recently promoted 4-H during National 4-H week by wearing a 4-H t-shirt to school and posting photos to social media using the hashtag #TrueLeaders.

The Nebraska 4-H Foundation provide the 4-H Club of the Month program to all Nebraska 4-H clubs throughout the state.  Clubs can nominate themselves by telling why their club should be chosen as Club of the Month.  A different club will be chosen each month and will be awarded with a certificate and $50 cash card.
