Better Ba-C’s 4-H Club – January 2014 Club of the Month

By Nebraska 4-H Foundation January 22, 2014

Congratulations to the Better Ba-C’s 4-H Club of Otoe County for being selected as your January 2014 Nebraska 4-H Club of the Month!

The Better Ba-C’s has been a club for almost 40 years. They started out as a dairy club, but now encompass a diverse variety of projects. They currently have 15 members enrolled in each of the livestock projects, as well as home economics, wildlife, horticulture and many more. The club contributes to several community service activities. Last year, they sewed a Quilt of Valor which was awarded a purple ribbon at the County Fair and presented it to one of the local disabled veterans. The club escorted the veterans through the Veteran’s Parade during the County Fair. They deliver Meals on Wheels during Christmas breaks, county fair food stand, and clean the Extension office’s grounds, and the county fairgrounds. They collect pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House, and also food for their local food pantry. The club has sent several care packages to overseas soldiers. They also donated a picnic table in memory of a club member for use on the fairgrounds. The Better Ba-C’s 4-H club is close-knit and they embrace their diversity. The Nebraska 4-H Foundation and Nebraska 4-H Ambassadors are proud to call the Better Ba-C’s 4-H Club of the Month for January 2014.

Also, applications are being accepted for the February 4-H Club of the Month until Friday, February 21st.
