Nebraska 4-H Foundation

  On June 15, 2009 the Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska Rick Sheehy and 60 golfers enjoyed a day of golf at the ruggedly beautiful Woodland Hills Golf Course near Eagle, Nebraska, the site for the 15^th Annual 4-H/FFA Golf Classic, to benefit the educational and scholarship funds for Nebraska youth involved in 4-H and FFA organizations.

82 people attended the after-golf awards dinner where the featured speaker was Husker Football Coach Bo Pelini.  The seven Nebraska State FFA Officers and two 4-H members from Otoe County were on hand to assist with the Golf Classic and to thank those who participated.

Golf foursomes had their pictures taken with Coach Pelini and an auction of Coach Pelini- autographed items raised additional funds for the two youth programs.  

The winning members of the Championship Flight were LaVerle Miller, Brandon Roth, Jeff Stone, and Jeff Henn of the United Farmers Coop team from York.

Major Sponsors of the event continuously for fifteen years were Farm Credit Services of America, Farmers National Company of Omaha, and Pioneer Hi-Bred International of Lincoln. In addition Monsanto and United Farmers Coop of York have been Major Sponsors for several years.

Gold Sponsors were Ag and Food Associates, LLC of Omaha, Central Valley Ag Coop located throughout Nebraska, Rural Community Insurance Services, Ashland, and Winfield Solutions, LLC, of Seward.

Twenty-four individuals and companies were Hole Sponsors and many others donated raffle and pin prizes. The tournament raised over $50,000 for the two foundations. Proceeds from the day’s events will benefit Nebraska 4-H and FFA youth by funding FFA COLT (Chapter Officer Leadership Training), 4-H club program initiatives, FFA Proficiency Awards, the three 4-H state camps and centers, scholarship and leadership workshops, as well as skill event competitions and recognition programs.

Gifts such as golf balls, towels, hats or corporate items will be used for prizes.  Gift bag items featuring your company name and logo are welcome.  Your name will be included in the program.

You may enter either as a team of four or as an individual (you will be assigned three other players).  The cost for an individual player is $500.  This may be secured by donations from local businesses and supporters or by individual payment of the entry fee.  All donors will be recognized by both organizations.   Golfers will receive 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, lunch and dinner.
